Short
Psychosecurity.ai is a research and policy initiative confronting AI-driven Zersetzung: the systematic psychological decomposition of individuals. It convenes the First Psychosecurity Summit and develops the Psychosecurity Framework, grounding the prohibition in existing international law.
Long
Psychosecurity is the protection of individuals and societies from systematic psychological attack. The term names a gap: cybersecurity protects machines and information security protects data, but no established discipline protects the integrity of the mind itself. The initiative's reference point is Zersetzung, the Stasi's covert "decomposition" of dissidents' lives, recognised as criminal after German reunification — a method artificial intelligence now threatens to industrialise. Psychosecurity.ai convenes the invite-only First Psychosecurity Summit (late 2026, near London) to adopt a six-element framework and declaration grounding AI-driven Zersetzung in existing international law. It is organised by EURAIO and funded by the Survival and Flourishing Fund.
Key Facts
Getting it right
- The term. Psychosecurity (one word, no hyphen): the protection of individuals and societies from systematic psychological attack. Zersetzung (German, "decomposition"): the Stasi's method of covert psychological repression, c. 1970s–1989.
- The claim is conservative. The initiative does not propose new law. It argues that existing instruments — the Rome Statute (Art. 7), the UN Convention Against Torture (Arts. 1, 16), and the ECHR (Arts. 3, 8) — already reach systematic psychological decomposition, and asks that this be made explicit.
- It is not an anti-persuasion campaign. The framework classifies most influence activity, including contested forms, below the red line. The prohibited category is narrow: systematic campaigns against named individuals with intent to decompose rather than persuade.
- The summit. The First Psychosecurity Summit is an invite-only working session in late 2026, near London, held under the Chatham House Rule — no panels, no audience. Its output is the six-element Psychosecurity Framework and a signable declaration, published afterwards for wider endorsement.
- Who. Convened by Nell Watson, President of EURAIO (a responsible-AI non-profit); summit design and delivery co-directed by Simona Popa; funded by the Survival and Flourishing Fund.
